As I was sharing the story of Brevard’s famous white squirrels, one quietly emerged from the trees, almost as if on cue. Comfortable around people and hoping for a small treat, he happily enjoyed a few French fries while capturing everyone’s attention.
I later learned that we had unknowingly chosen Franklin Park, one of the best places to encounter these remarkable animals. When I returned another day, I was delighted to find the same little squirrel, recognizable by the distinctive black patch on his head.
