NEW Release! "Brevard's Treasure"

from $95.00

Some of life’s sweetest moments are the ones we never plan. while spending the day with family visiting from Florida, we stopped at a nearby park to enjoy a simple picnic. As I was sharing the story of Brevard’s famous white squirrels, one quietly emerged from the trees, almost as if on cue. Comfortable around people and hoping for a small treat, he happily enjoyed a few French fries while capturing everyone’s attention.

I later learned that we had unknowingly chosen Franklin Park, one of the best places to encounter these remarkable animals. When I returned another day, I was delighted to find the same little squirrel, recognizable by the distinctive black patch on his head. Watching him play alongside two other white squirrels was a reminder that some of nature’s greatest treasures are found in the quietest moments. White squirrels can be found in only a few locations across the United States, making Brevard, North Carolina, one of the rare places where visitors have the opportunity to experience them in the wild. This painting is a celebration of those unexpected encounters that leave us smiling long after they’ve passed, and one of western North Carolina’s most cherished and enchanting residents.
